Leeds United are seeking out either a first choice or backup goalkeeper as they suffer issues between the posts, according to reliable journalist Alan Nixon.

The Sun reporter claims on his personal Twitter account that the Whites, who lost loanee Jamal Blackman to a broken leg during the international break and also saw first choice keeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell ruled out on their return to league action, are open to bringing in someone to either battle the Leeds youngster for a senior role or for someone to back him up.

The injury blows meant that 20-year-old Will Huffer was put in for his debut against Bristol City on Saturday, but this latest update is important as it shows Marcelo Bielsa is keeping his options open.

Opinion

The fact that Peacock-Farrell was facing the axe after his diabolical outing at West Brom shows that Bielsa is likely to be looking for someone who can take his spot on their arrival at Elland Road. However, should the right man not be available then there certainly needs to be an experienced option who could step in in case of another injury or suspension issue, but will leave the current Leeds man to keep his place in the starting XI. Young talent Huffer might be feeling a bit disappointed that he will not be given a regular role in the senior side now he has been given his debut, but at the same time the Whites are challenging for promotion and cannot afford to gamble with youngsters too often. A goalkeeper can win or lose you the game and Bielsa needs to make sure he has someone he can rely on. It seems Peacock-Farrell, who was an ever present prior to his injury blow, has not done enough to convince the boss he is that man.
