Carlos Pena looks set to return to Ibrox imminently and has said that he wants to pick up his career at Rangers after a disastrous 12 months.

In a video message posted on his Twitter account, Pena confirmed that he had left his current club Necaxa on good terms.

He added that he was returning to Rangers where he still has a year-and-a-half left on his contract.

And surprisingly, the Rangers fans seem to want him back.

COMMENTARY
Pena was signed for £2.7million from Mexican side Chivas in the summer of 2017 by Pedro Caixinha. His Rangers career never took off and he was loaned out to Cruz Azul in January, before a string of controversies beset him, including checking in to rehab to deal with alcohol issues. He was then loaned to Necaxa but he has only made two league starts for them and is now set to return to Rangers to try to pick the pieces of his career up. Pena’s obviously still got ongoing issues and we hope that he gets the help he needs from somewhere. Could that be at Rangers? There are still many Rangers fans who think he could make it at Ibrox and if any manager can give him the discipline he needs, it’s Steven Gerrard, but we can’t see it happening. It’s a tough one as no club will really want to take him out on loan after what’s happened and Rangers surely won’t want to keep paying his wages for the next 18 months. Is a reduced payout to terminate his contract early the answer?
