Former Celtic star Jiri Jarosik has said that he wants to seal the ‘perfect’ return to Celtic as manager one day after starring for the club under Gordon Strachan.

The Czech had a two year spell in Glasgow and since retiring he has been involved with coaching, and is currently assistant manager at Slovakian side MFK Ruzomberok.

But Parkhead is where his heart lies: “When I am ready, I hope to have more experiences and, of course, managing Celtic one day would be perfect,” he told the Scottish Sun.

“Let’s not get carried away. I’d love to have a top coaching career and Glasgow is a great football city. But I need to take things step by step. I have a long way to go, but a return to Celtic in the future? Why not?”

OPINION

Obviously it’s far too early in Jarosik’s coaching career to know what sort of a manager he’d make but his attitude here tells you everything you need to know about the impact playing for Celtic has on players. The atmosphere in Glasgow is infectious and that’s why so many ex players want to go back to the club – Jarosik is no different. He was only at Celtic for a short time but yet he talks about his experience under Strachan so glowingly. He needs to focus on getting all his coaching badges and moving up the ladder, though. He’s already getting good experience as a number two and that will stand him in good stead once he does eventually take on a management role. Whether he will fulfil his dream of being in the dugout at Celtic or not remains to be seen, but it’s clear that a decade on he is still hooked on the famous Parkhead atmosphere.
