Sir Kenny Dalglish has drooled over Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie following his performances for both club and country.

Christie starred in Scotland’s UEFA Nations League matches against Albania and Israel, and Dalglish described him as a “different class” following the back-to-back victories – and added that the dazzler has established himself as a “top talent” for the Hoops recently.

Dalglish reckons that Scott Brown’s absence for both club and country has worked out well for the likes of Christie, who returned from a loan spell with Aberdeen in May this year.

“Ryan Christie has also emerged as a top talent. He has been outstanding. [Brown’s] absence worked out well for the likes of Christie and, in turn, worked out well for Scotland and Alex McLeish,” he wrote in his Sunday Post column.

“Christie started the victories against Albania and Israel and was different class.”

OPINION

It is no surprise that Dalglish has heaped praise on Christie, as he has simply blown everyone away with his recent performances. He was not used much at the start of the season by Brendan Rodgers, but he has certainly made up for lately. It is bizarre to think that he has been sent out on loan for the past few seasons to the likes of Aberdeen, as Celtic have missed out on his excellent talent – and they will no doubt be kicking themselves as a result. They are probably asking themselves why they sent him out on loan in the first place, as he has certainly not looked like a player who has not featured in the manager’s plans. This is only the start of bigger things to come for Christie, as he is only going to get better and better as the season goes on, and hopefully that will bring more success for Celtic as a team.
