The international break can often give rarely-seen players the opportunities to impress their club managers – and that is no different with Celtic striker Jack Aitchison.

At a mere 18-years-old, Aitchison has already accomplished making the first team back in 2016 in a clash with Motherwell, which was followed by him contributing towards the goals in a 7-0 rout of Partick Thistle in 2017.

However, since then, the young ace has been nowhere to be seen for the Hoops after being sent out on loan to Dumbarton in the summer – a spell which was cut short after playing just four games for the club.

Nevertheless, this is not all bad news for the youngster, as he bagged a brace for the Scotland under-19s on Saturday evening.

Goals – regardless of who they are against – are what he needs right now to improve his confidence, but there is no doubt that Aitchison caught the attention of Brendan Rodgers after such an assured display.

That is not to say that he must be introduced into the first team fold immediately after impressing in this clash, as that would be too soon for someone who has been away from the senior set-up for a prolonged period of time.

However, that does not stop him from being rewarded with a first team place in the near future, particularly if he can prove that he can score on a regular basis.

He is a star for the future and Rodgers no doubt recognises this – so he must integrate him at some point in soon in order for him to get used to the responsibility.

All in all, Aitchison’s display for the Scotland youth side is bound to have turned Rodgers’ head – so he must be rewarded soon for his efforts.
