Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has predicted that Wigan will hold Leeds United to a 2-2 draw in their meeting at the DW Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Leeds go into the weekend second in the Championship table but that has not stopped Prutton from tipping Wigan to stop them from winning this weekend, even though they have lost three of their four last games.

“Wigan at home are a completely different proposition to the side they are away. They’ve claimed 17 of their 20 points at the DW Stadium this season and will give Leeds a great game on Sunday,” he said on the Sky Sports website.

“Leeds only got a point against Forest last week, and they claimed it in somewhat controversial circumstances, but they look like they are getting back up to full speed. I can’t split these two, however, so I’m going to back an entertaining draw.”

Going into the game, the Whites have only won two of their last ten matches against Wigan.

OPINION

Prutton may have stated Wigan’s home record as a reason to why they will hold Leeds to a draw this weekend, but it is really hard to agree with him on it when Marcelo Bielsa’s side are playing so well themselves. The Latics beat West Brom at the DW Stadium last month, but they have been beaten by the likes of Preston and Millwall, two teams who they should really be beating if they want to pick up points off Leeds. It should be a tight game though, and that’s mainly because of Leeds’ injury issues. Bielsa is getting some of his players back to fitness but will it be enough to help get the three points at Wigan? It should be and they could well be back on top of the Championship after the weekend is over. Sheffield United are currently top and they play Nottingham Forest on Saturday, so Leeds could go into the motivation that a win could take them top.
