Wolves have been engaging on scouting missions to watch Brommapojkarna teenage attacker Jack Lahne this season as they join English rivals Middlesbrough in chasing his signing, according to Expressen.

The Swedish news outlet claim on their website that the Molineux outfit had a scout watching on in the club’s 1-0 defeat to Norrkoping on Wednesday as the 17-year-old, who can play as a striker or a winger, played the full 90 minutes.

Lahne, a Sweden under-17 international, has appeared 17 times this season – which has run from February and through the summer – and started the last five games for his side, with three goals to his name so far.

The report states that Brommapojkarna would likely be willing to let him leave for a fee of 15million Swedish Krona, or £1.2million.

Good move for Wolves?

At 17-years-old it is hard to judge whether a player is going to be able to make it in the Premier League, especially when they are not playing at a high level of football already.

However, the fact that he is featuring on a regular basis for the first team at his current side in Sweden’s top tier does suggest he has got a lot of potential, and Wolves would love to have the next big star on their books before anyone else takes too much notice.

Middlesbrough are the only other English side said to be watching him but with scouts from Germany, Turkey and France all reportedly in attendance, it seems Wolves are chasing a hot prospect.

He is not going to make waves at Molineux if he were to arrive any time soon, but he could be worth a gamble – and at £1.2million, it is pocket change for the owners.

Likely to happen?

It is difficult to say whether Wolves are front runners or simply one of the chasing pack for the young sensation, and with so many clubs named as potential suitors doubts have to be cast over whether they have a chance of signing him up.

As the only Premier League side named, they might well have an advantage, with the prospect of playing in England’s top flight, not to mention the wages on offer, a huge draw to many players from overseas.

This could all depend on whether Wolves are impressed enough to make a move for his capture – and if they were, you would expect them to pull out all the stops to make him theirs.
