BBC Match of the Day pundit Danny Murphy has raved about Wolves 18-year-old sensation Morgan Gibbs-White after a show-stealing performance against Tottenham, saying he has the sort of vision that other players just don’t possess.

He ended up on the losing side as Tottenham won 3-2 but he was quite brilliant when he came on in the 62nd minute for João Moutinho.

Talking on Match of the Day (Saturday, BBC1, 10.30pm), Murphy heaped praise on the youngster, saying he was “sensational”.

“It’s very rare you see someone at this age and say wow,” Murphy said.

“His vision and the effect he had in such a short space of time was brilliant.

“His ability to run with the ball was amazing and I think he is exactly the type of player we’re crying out for.

“We’ve got some great talent coming through, but it’s not always that… Have they got the mentality you need and Gibbs-White… that pass, not many players would have the vision.

“It’s not just about the execution but being able to see the pass. When Wolves brought him on they had better energy and his ability to look up and see that killer pass… he was sensational.”

OPINION
Wow is right. Gibbs-White was sensational on Saturday and it’s hard to believe that he’s only 18. It’s also hard to believe that he’s only made short cameo appearances in the Premier League so far. The 28 minutes he got against Tottenham on Saturday amounted to the longest he’s been on the pitch for Wolves in the league this season, but he crammed a lot into that time. Wolves looked like a team transformed with him on the pitch and they came so close to snatching an unlikely share of the points after going three goals down to a rampant Spurs side. Two penalties made the final ten minutes exceptionally tough for Tottenham and it’s just a shame it took Nuno’s side so long to start competing with the north London side. The England Under-19n player must be knocking on the door of his first Premier League start now although Nuno won’t want to rush him and over-expose him. On this evidence though, he’s ready for the big time. Age shouldn’t be a barrier – if you’re good enough, you’re good enough.
