For Wolverhampton Wanderers, their biggest problem this season has been scoring goals, with the team’s front three looking strangely blunt so far this term.

The Wolves attack that went through the Championship like a hot knife through butter has appeared non existent this campaign, and something needs to be done in January to rectify the situation.

Nottingham Forest’s attacking midfielder Joao Carvalho could be the answer to the problem that has plagued Molineux so far this season.

The 21-year-old has taken the Championship by storm this season, contributing five assists and becoming Aitor Karanka’s key man. His latest performance, in the 1-0 win over Sheffield United, was superb, as he set up Lewis Grabban for the game’s only goal.

The likes of Jota, Helder Costa, Ivan Cavaleiro and Adama Traore have failed to produce consistently strong performances this term, and manager Nuno Espirito Santo should be looking to upgrade that group in January.

Carvalho would be ideal in that regard. His ability to create chances for others is something that Wolves have been missing this season, and if he can reproduce the understanding that he has with Grabban with Wolves frontman Raul Jimenez then the goals should flow at Molineux once again.

The key to this potential transfer is Jorge Mendes, the super agent who has been key in bringing a number of high profile players to Wolves in recent years.

Wolves should use this link to bring the playmaker to Molineux, and help fix the one major issue that is threatening to derail the club’s season.
