Tottenham Hotspur are not interested in bringing Gareth Bale back to the club despite Real Madrid looking to sell the winger, according to Diario Gol.

The Spanish outlet claims that the European champions offered the Wales international to Spurs, but that chairman Daniel Levy turned them down.

The Tottenham chief is said to be concerned by Bale’s injury record and his lack of top form in recent times, leading to him rejecting a sensational return to North London for the 29-year-old.

Diario Gol’s report states that Madrid president Florentino Perez is looking to move Bale on in order to make room for Chelsea talisman Eden Hazard.

Good move for Tottenham?

This is a difficult one to judge. Bale is one of the greatest players in Tottenham’s history but it’s difficult to ascertain where he is at in his career right now. He is 29 years of age meaning that he likely doesn’t have too many years left at the top, and he would surely cost a huge amount of money in both transfer fee and wages. The Welshman started the season on fire, netting three goals in his opening three La Liga games, but he is yet to score in the league since September 1. All in all he has four goals in 13 games in all competitions this term, not a horrendous tally but certainly not superstar level. It’s difficult to see where he fits in this Tottenham team at present, but he remains an outstanding talent who could take this Spurs team to the next level if he’s at his best, so it’s hard to say whether rejecting his return was a good move from Levy or not.

Likely to happen?

Apparently not. Levy doesn’t sound as if he is at all interested in bringing Bale back to the club, so Spurs fans will need to accept the fact that the Welshman won’t be wearing Tottenham white again.
