Wolverhampton Wanderers legend Steve Bull has revealed that he is hopeful his old team can secure a point against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s team go into the game on the back of successive defeats to Watford and Brighton & Hove Albion, but Bull feels Wolves can bounce back against Spurs.

“Tottenham are Wolves’ opponents at Molineux tonight – and I would happily take a point from the clash with Mauricio Pochettino’s side,” he wrote in the Express & Star.

“Getting a draw following back-to-back defeats would go down very nicely, boosting the confidence of Nuno and his players. It would be another huge statement. After all, for all the wins Wolves have had so far this campaign, the results that stand out are the 1-1s against Manchester City and Manchester United. Up against Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Toby Alderweireld – to name a few – there is no doubt it will be a very difficult test, but I am confident that we can match them.”

OPINION

You could argue that Wolves should be hoping for more from a home clash against Tottenham, which tells you everything you need to know about how well Nuno’s team have adapted to the top flight. They have, by and large, been tremendous in the Premier League so far this season and will have no fear of Mauricio Pochettino’s side. They showed against Manchester United and Manchester City earlier this campaign that they can go toe to toe with the big boys, and they’ll be looking to do the same against Spurs. Like Wolves, Tottenham will be looking to get back to winning ways after suffering defeat against City on Monday night, but the hosts cannot simply settle for a draw at Molineux. They need to take it to Spurs and see what happens, and then if they end up getting the draw Bull is hoping for then they can look back on it as a great result after the game – but make no mistake, Wolves should be looking to win here.
