Match of the Day pundit Ian Wright says that there are three players who can help West Ham United get points over their next couple of games.

Wright says that Marko Arnautovic, Felipe Anderson and Michail Antonio’s ability to create chances is what will help the Hammers get some more points after their heavy 4-0 defeat to Manchester City on Saturday, as well as the sides they will face.

Wright pointed out the Irons’ poor record against City, which he says in the last four home games amounts to a staggering scoreline of 17-1 to the current Premier League champions.

“Yeah it is in the last four home games, Manchester City against West Ham it’s like 17-1 or something, I don’t think these are the games they need to worry about but Pep did say West Ham did create some chances,” said the pundit on Match of the Day [23:04, 24/11,].

“I know Pep was being quite harsh on his own team but the games West Ham have coming up, you have to say with Arnautovic, Felipe Anderson and Michail Antonio they will create chances and they will, I believe, get some points out of the games coming.”

OPINION

It is quite surprising that Wright has picked out Antonio as one of the players who will be able to get West Ham points in the next few games. He has been woeful recently, so it remains to be seen why the pundit has picked him as a player who is likely to make an impact on the results. Arnautovic and Anderson are understandable choices, as they have proved a number of times that they have the ability to score and create chances – but not Antonio. There is no doubt that West Ham will get points over the next few games, but after his performance today, he is unlikely to make the starting XI. He proved to be ineffective apart from the few bright moments he had within the game – but that is simply not good enough, he needs to be consistent to maintain his status as a regular first teamer.
