West Ham will sell 19-year-old centre-back Reece Oxford in January, and at a much lower price than they rated him at not long ago, according to a report.

It was also claimed that he could form part of a swap deal with an unnamed German side.

On the new episode of the West Ham Way podcast, it was claimed that there is new interest in the player from Germany and that West Ham want him off their books.

ExWHUemployee, the man who has inside knowledge on West Ham transfers said, “There is interest in Reece Oxford from Germany again and the club will sell him now, they’ve lowered their expectations.

“We were looking for £15m not long ago but we’d take a third of that now if I’m honest, get him off the wages.

“Names for right-backs – there are some names but they are watching 10 players at the moment. There a re a couple in the Championship. Most of the names I haven’t heard of, two in France, one in Germany, which could be part of the Reece Oxford deal. I don’t like tweeting the names until I know they’re concrete.”

OPINION

Of the two young centre-backs currently on the books at West Ham at the moment, fans would much prefer Declan Rice to stay and be given a new deal. Oxford is on £20k-a-week at the moment and it just shows you how skewed the West Ham wage book is, with Rice reportedly on just £3k-a-week. West Ham are intent on clearing some of the wages off their books, including Javier Hernandez’s whopping £140k-a-week as they plan to get new names in in January. However, the Sun reported last night that Oxford was intent on staying at West Ham even if the club tried to force him out. We’re not too sure how that would work out for him and we’re sure it wouldn’t be the best for him – he doesn’t appear to have a future at the London Stadium. From the podcast, it seems that his time at the club is coming to an end, which is a shame for a player the Hammers had such high hopes for.
