Hartlepool United are plotting a move to sign prolific Newcastle United starlet Elias Sorensen in the January window, according to the Hartlepool Mail.

The newspaper claim the 19-year-old striker is on the radar of the County Durham-based National League outfit as the Premier League club prepare to loan him in the winter window.

The Hartlepool Mail report Newcastle are eager for Sorensen to get senior playing time after his eyecatching form for the club’s youth team this season.

Good move for Newcastle?

Yes. The key for Newcastle is to agree a loan deal for the second half of the season with a club where Sorensen can gain some valuable senior experience and, crucially, be a regular starter. The teenager has been a goal machine for the club’s Under-23s this season, netting 10 goals in 10 Premier League 2 fixtures as well as three in three EFL Trophy games. He is a rising star who is probably not yet ready for the Premier League, but could handle the Football League and certainly England’s fifth tier where Hartlepool play. It is in Newcastle’s best interests to secure a move to a club where Sorensen can thrive, and they should make sure that happens after giving a loan the theoretical thumbs-up.

Likely to happen?

It appears all but certain Sorensen will go out on loan even though he was recently promoted to first-team Newcastle training. The rising star appears to have out-grown youth team football and Newcastle are keen for him to be tested at a higher level. The big question is, where will he end up?
