West Ham United have been put on red alert with Liverpool now prepared to loan out young striker Dominic Solanke in January, according to The Sun

The newspaper report that the Reds would prefer to sell Divock Origi, who has just moved up in the pecking order, but are ready to let Solanke leave temporarily if a bid does not materialise.

The Sun claim that West Ham are one of two Premier League teams interested, with Crystal Palace being the other, although the Hammers would have to convince both Liverpool and Solanke of regular game time to secure his signature.

Good move for West Ham?

Not particularly.

Solanke is a promising young striker, and there is no doubt that he could well go on to become a proven Premier League performer, but he is not what West Ham need right now.

West Ham need a striker who can come in and hit the ground running, something which Solanke would be unlikely to do considering his lack of minutes this season and general lack of experience.

Add to that the fact that Liverpool always make demands for their loan stars, which more often than not lead to fines if they are not met, with that being a stress West Ham could really do without.

Likely to happen?

No.

Firstly, Liverpool must sanction the move, which at the moment is not quite certain to happen considering the situation with Origi.

Secondly, Palace look to be far more interested in a move for the 21-year-old, and the Eagles would be able to offer him far more game time than the Hammers.
