After an abysmal and worrying run of four losses to start the season, West Ham have begun to look the part under new boss Manuel Pellegrini with some accomplished performances of late.

This group of players looks to be building something very promising under the watchful eye of the Premier League-winning Chilean, with the rest of the season now an exciting prospect for the club’s fanbase.

And, with the January window approaching, Pellegrini has the chance to add even further to his squad if needs be, with there being a couple of positions of concern at the London Stadium.

However, with that opportunity comes risk, and if the latest reports are to be believed, then Pellegrini is about to take a risk which could end up derailing their season.

According to the Daily Mail, the Hammers have been in talks with former Manchester City and Arsenal ace Samir Nasri, who is ready to return from an 18-month doping ban.

The newspaper claim that Pellegrini is keen on adding Nasri, who he worked with at the Etihad, to his West Ham squad as he looks to add firepower in attack.

It is also reported that Nasri is seeking a deal worth £5million-a-year, or £96,000-a-week, which would instantly put him amongst the top earners at the London Stadium.

In all honesty, West Ham would be crazy to take Nasri on such a deal, and it is a rash move which could end up derailing their season if Pellegrini is not careful.

Nasri is well known for his poor attitude, so for him to come in on such big wages and likely slot into the starting team pretty soon after would ruffle a few feathers in the changing room.

There looks to be some real team unity building among the squad at the moment, but something like that is so delicate, and a move for Nasri could end up jeopardising that if not handled correctly.

It will be a big story if the Hammers do end up signing Nasri, but it is one which could essentially see Pellegrini press the self destruct button if it does not work out.
