If there is one player at West Ham United who has not been enjoying the best of times recently, it is left-back Arthur Masuaku.

The 25-year-old has had a bit of an off season if you put it lightly, but because Manuel Pellegrini does not have many quality options in the left-back position, he has had to play Masuaku a lot more often than he would have liked.

However, there is only so long that the Chilean can continue playing Masuaku, as he is just hindering their success this season – so he must be permanently axed as soon as possible, as his Hammers career is dead and buried.

There is not one game this season where fans will remember him playing a blinder and that is actually really worrying, as it highlights just how weak the Irons are becoming in defence.

Pellegrini needs to be brutal and throw the first teamer in the bin, as he clearly is not going to improve his standards any time soon, and West Ham cannot afford to have a player like that within the side.

He may not be out-of-contract until 2020, but that does not stop Pellegrini from offloading him in the January transfer window – if anybody wants him, that is.

Even Aaron Cresswell is better than Masuaku at the moment, and that is really saying something, as Cresswell has not had the best of seasons either.

Pellegrini may need to turn to his young guns until January if he axes Masuaku, but supporters are hardly going to be bothered by that after the way they slammed the flyer after the 4-0 loss to Manchester City on Saturday.

One thing is for sure though, Masuaku is an accident waiting to happen, and Pellegrini cannot afford for him to make any more stupid mistakes.

Over to you, Pellegrini.
