West Ham United striker Marko Arnautovic has not demanded that he is to be paid £200,000-a-week to stay at the club, according to a club insider.

exWHUemployee – who is a super reliable source of news on the Hammers – has revealed via their personal Twitter account that the star has not asked to be paid such a high figure, despite a report by the Sun saying that it would be the only way to keep him at the London Stadium.

The report also stated that the Austria forward is after one final big pay day, but the club insider has poured cold water over such demands.

OPINION

£200,000-a-week is a jawdropping sum of money, so it is no surprise that the Sun reported that West Ham did not want to pay that figure in fear of upsetting the dressing room. However, the insider has since revealed that Arnautovic never even asked for that sort of wage, news that will no doubt be music to the ears of West Ham fans. There was the slight danger of losing him to a bigger club if the Hammers could not fork out the money, but that has now been put to bed. It seems like Arnautovic is remaining at the club for the time being, and it also looks like he is to be on the same wage that he was on before. Yes, there are players like Javier Hernandez who are on higher wages than he is – which is admittedly rather unfair considering that he does not even play that much – but he can rest easy knowing that he is a favourite amongst the fans.
