Tottenham Hotspur fans have slammed centre-back Juan Foyth for his first-half display against Crystal Palace on Saturday, with the teams going into the break at 0-0.

Foyth was a surprise starter for Spurs and looked nervy in the first half as he misplaced a few passes and was forced into a couple of needless fouls.

Tottenham fans have been reacting to the first half on Twitter, with many singling out Foyth’s display for criticism after the first 45 minutes.

COMMENTARY

These Tottenham fans are obviously worried about Foyth’s first-half display against the Eagles, and you can see why. The young Argentine, who has again been called up to the senior international squad this week, looked really shaky in that first period against Palace. The fact that he conceded two penalties against Wolves last weekend will not have helped his confidence, and that looked to carry over to his display in that first 45 minutes. And, while this criticism is fair in many ways, Spurs fans must exercise patience with Foyth. His performance against West Ham in the Carabao Cup was outstanding, and before his two flashpoints against Wolves he looked really solid. He is still very young and he will no doubt bounce back under the wing of compatriot Pochettino. Hopefully that will be sooner rather than later, with the second half to come against Palace being hugely important in the context of Tottenham’s Premier League campaign.
