Tottenham fans think they’re witnessing the birth of a new star after centre-back Juan Foyth made his Premier League debut on Saturday night.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino finally unleashed the youngster in the league and he helped his side to a 3-2 win at Molineux under the floodlights.
A goal apiece from Erik Lamela and Lucas Moura in the first-half, and one from Kane in the second, secured the three points and means that Tottenham are keeping pace with the teams at the top.
However, Foyth blotted his copybook with two needless challenges late on that gave Wolves their penalties, although Kieran Tripper was as much to blame for the first one.
Some fans slammed Foyth late on for his carelessness but others said it shouldn’t mask what was an excellent overall performance.
Tottenham leapfrogged rivals Arsenal and moved into fourth spot with the win.
COMMENTARY
Tottenham paid a lot for Juan Foyth – £12million from Estudiantes – and fans are finally starting to see why. The young enforcer looks calm, strong and assured and after impressing in the league cup against West Ham in midweek, he was finally given his Premier League debut tonight. And he played brilliantly, with plenty of Tottenham fans going onto Twitter to purr over their new man, although he showed his naivety by giving away the penalties. One fan said that whatever side Tottenham were facing, Foyth should play, and another said that he could “do no wrong” and called for Pochettino to “give him the armband”. It’s hard to believe that this was his Premier League debut and that he’s still only 20. Pochettino’s decision to introduce the youngster to the British game slowly looks like it’s paying dividends, but fans will want to see a lot more of him this season. Foyth has already won his senior Argentina call-up and he could well be thrust onto the big stage very shortly. He looks that good.
Here are the best reactions to Foyth from the Tottenham fans:
Juan Foyth is going to be a proper proper CB (he’s 19)

Foyth's been class again, hasn't he. Amazing how much he's come on in six months or so of not playing.

Foyth has amazing potential. Very comfortable on the ball and a better passer than Sanchez.

There's only Juan Juan Foyth. #THFC

Probably the best and most confident playing out from the back we've been for some time. Winks looks irreplaceable already, if he gets injured again I might actually cry. Foyth looking almost ridiculous at times.

Whatever the side, Foyth should be starting.

Everyone will be on Foyth’s back, conceding two penalties on his debut, but he was put under pressure from his own teammates on both occasions: first by Trippier’s carelessness and then by a Winks pass back to Trippier being intercepted and ball played behind Foyth.
