Andy Gray has heaped praise on Man City striker Sergio Aguero and has said that he’s better than Tottenham striker Harry Kane.

Gray was talking on the live Twitter show on beIN SPORTS on Friday morning and was asked by Richard Keys whether Kane was the best goal-scorer in the world.

“He’s up there,” Gray said. “If you’re talking about finishers then he’s right up there, there might be a couple better. Aguero for me is an unbelievable goal-scorer… Not the best players in the world, but goal-scorers, I’m not arguing.”

Aguero is currently leading the way at the top of the Premier League Golden Goal race, with eight goals in 12 games, and he is back to being the Man City number one choice after reports of a rift with Pep Guardiola after Gabriel Jesus joined.

Kane is not firing on all cylinders yet but has still scored six in 12 games.

OPINION

Aguero is an incredible striker, definitely one of the best in the world. And his all-round play has been improved since Pep Guardiola took over, just like Raheem Sterling. It shows you how much of an impact great managers can have on elite players. Aguero always talked down reports of a rift between him and Guardiola, but there were definite issues when Gabriel Jesus arrived. Aguero was often benched, despite being the club’s top scorer, and there was talk that he might be forced to leave. All of the seems to be in the past now. Jesus has really struggled to get anywhere near Aguero and is now the man who has to make an impact from the bench. Man City wouldn’t be the same team without Aguero and his goals, the same as Tottenham wouldn’t be the same without Kane. Who’s better? That’s tough but Kane has won the Golden Boot for the past couple of seasons and Aguero hasn’t been doing much for Argentina. We’ll call it even.
