Tottenham are hardly waring thin in defence with the likes of Davinson Sanchez and Toby Alderweireld on the books.

However, it would not harm them to bring in some quality cover to ensure that they are represented on all bases.

That may have just taken a turn for the worse, as Calcio Mercato have reported that Juventus and Inter Milan are now incredibly keen on signing Sampdoria defender Joachim Andersen – a player that Spurs have their eye on.

The report states that Inter Milan are in a hurry to capture the services of the £30.7 million rated player, while Juventus have been tracking the talent for a while.

By the looks of it, Andersen is slowly slipping from the Lilywhites’ grasp, and that is something that they simply cannot allow to happen.

Spurs chief Daniel Levy now needs to pull out all of the stops in order to get the Danish ace on their books, otherwise he will be the laughing stock at the expense of the Italian duo.

There is a reason why a number of clubs are chasing him, however, Tottenham must force their way through to the front of the queue.

The lure of the Premier League will no doubt be tempting for Andersen, and this is something that Spurs can use to their advantage.

Come January, they must act fast – because according to the latest development on the player, he is slowly slipping out of their grasp.

They need to evaluate whether he is worth the effort in a few months time, or whether he is just a waste of Spurs’ time.

Levy will no doubt be rather frustrated at this latest twist in the tale, and he must now ensure that Tottenham get within reaching distance of Andersen.

The other option is to let him slip away from them – something which Andersen is already beginning to do.
