Manchester United are lining up a transfer swoop for Everton’s Jordan Pickford as a replacement for David De Gea as the Spaniard is expected to leave Old Trafford, according to i News.

The newspaper claim on their website that the Red Devils have conceded to themselves that their shot stopper is likely to depart, with the likes of PSG linked with his signing, and as such have turned to the Toffees star to fill the void.

It is stated that Everton will demand in excess of the £30million that they spent on signing the England number one, who stands at six foot tall (source: Transfermarkt) and that United have been impressed by what they have seen of the 24-year-old.

Good move for Everton?

Absolutely not.

Pickford is the club’s reigning player of the year and for good reason, for his has grown into his role at Goodison Park immensely.

He is now very much a top quality goalkeeper and with United said to be seeking a replacement it should come as no surprise to hear that they are looking at him.

A talented shot stopper, he is just as impressive with his feet and is very much a modern sort of goalkeeper that managers are looking for nowadays.

Losing him would be a huge blow to the Toffees for finding their own replacement, even with a big cheque from his sale, would be an almost impossible task.

Likely to happen?

Pickford was tied down to a new contract deal not too long ago and the Toffees will be delighted to have sealed that agreement for it puts them in a strong negotiating position.

If United really want him they will have to pay through the nose and that could well be the deciding factor which helps Everton keep him on board.

Of course all of this is only if De Gea does leave and while United might have accepted his exit, nothing is set in stone.
