There is no chance of Fabinho quitting Liverpool in January to join Paris Saint-Germain, according to his wife.

Rebecca Tavares dismissed speculation in the French media that her husband could make a shock mid-season transfer back to Ligue 1 as “fake news” on her personal Twitter account.

Tavares went public to post her brilliant verdict after L’Equipe reported on Tuesday that the Merseysiders are contemplating loaning out the Brazil international to PSG in January on the condition there is a £44million mandatory purchase option at the end of the season.

OPINION

With eight words and a highly appropriate meme, Fabinho’s wife has delivered an excellent response to rather bizarre speculation Fabinho could head out of Liverpool just months after they paid £39million rising to £44million for him. It appears that those working for the Brazilian’s agent Jorge Mendes have been hoarding the midfielder’s name around and linking him with a move back to France. The only reason that would make sense is if Fabinho is desperate for a return to Ligue 1 and is hating every minute of it at Liverpool. Tavares’ tweet suggests that is not the case, otherwise why would she have even bothered commenting on the speculation? As for the player being unhappy, he has started four of Liverpool’s last six matches and is firmly in the running to do so again in tonight’s showdown against PSG, a match in which the visitors really need to secure at least a draw to give themselves a good chance of reaching the knockout stages of the Champions League.
