A section of Manchester United fans took to Twitter to rip into Nemanja Matic for his performance in their side’s Premier League defeat to Manchester City on Sunday.
The central midfielder , 30, played the full 90 minutes of the Etihad Stadium clash as City overcame their neighbours with a convincing 3-1 triumph.
Many United fans are fuming at the performance of Matic, with comments including “fraud” and “has to go”.

COMMENTARY:
This was not a match Matic will look back fondly at end the end of his glittering career. The three-times title winner cut a statuesque figure in United’s midfield and paled in comparison with the dynamic and dominant men in sky blue. Supporters fumed at Matic for failing to get a grip in the centre of the pitch and also for not tracking Ilkay Gundogan at the end of the 44-pass move for the third and match-sealing City goal. The home side had to dig deep as United threatened a second-half recovery, just as they famously and memorably did in April. Jose Mourinho clutched at straws afterwards as he highlighted the fact his side travelled to Italian champions Juventus in midweek while City had an easier assignment at home to Shakhtar Donetsk. Had their opponents been the other way round, would the scoreline in Manchester have been any different? The gulf between the sides is such that is unlikely. City are a far better side, and the ageing Matic exemplifies that.
Team selection was wrong today. No complaints about the result though. Usually disagree with Souness but he was spot on about zero goal threat. Matic needs to be dropped and wouldn’t mind seeing Dalot getting a chance @ManUtd #MUFC
