Manchester City welcome Shakhtar Donetsk to the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday looking for a victory which will put them on the verge of the Champions League knockout stages, and Pep Guardiola must make six changes to his starting lineup.

City come into this one on the back of a 6-1 thrashing of Southampton on Sunday which reestablished their advantage at the top of the Premier League table.

Opponents Shakhtar are bottom of the group but are in good form domestically having won four matches in a row to take an eight-point lead at the top of the Ukrainian Premier League.

In goal, Ederson must retain his place as normal.

In defence, Kyle Walker must retain his place on the right, while Vincent Kompany and Nicolas Otamendi start in place of John Stones and Aymeric Laporte in the centre, with rarely-seen flyer Oleksandr Zinchenko handed a start at left-back instead of Ben Mendy.

A midfield trio of Fernandinho, Bernardo Silva and Fabian Delph must be selected, with senior ace David Silva rested after his weekend exploits.

In attack comes even more changes, with Riyad Mahrez entering the fray in place of Leroy Sane, while Gabriel Jesus must replace senior striker Sergio Aguero up front, with Raheem Sterling retaining his place on the other flank.

Overall this means six changes for City, but this is a starting XI which should have more than enough to crush Shakhtar and put the Sky Blues closer to the knockout stages.
