Aymeric Laporte was brilliant for Man City in their 2-2 draw with Lyon in the Champions League on Tuesday night, and fans flocked onto Twitter to hail their new defensive hero.
Incredibly, he hasn’t won a senior cap for France yet, but it must make him the best player never to play for his country.
And if he continues playing like this for Man City, he won’t hold that record for long.
The 24-year-old arrived for an eye-watering fee of £38million from Athletic Bilbao in January and he’s fast become a regular in Pep’s side.
He’s played 90 minutes in every single Premier League and Champions League game so far this season and fans think they’re witnessing the birth of a new City superstar.
One fan said he’s the best centre-back in Europe at the moment, and he can’t be far off.
