OPINION
A section of Newcastle United fans have been destroying Martin Dubravka on Twitter having heaped the blame on the goalkeeper for Sam Vokes’ goal for Burnley in the first half at Turf Moor on Monday night. The 29-year-old has been a fantastic signing for the Magpies this year but he was caught too far off his line by the Clarets as they got themselves goal just before half-time this week. The Toon Army clearly have high expectations of Dubravka but they are definitely being too hard on him here. Vokes’ header was simply brilliant. It was route-one football at it’s finest and sometimes it is just too hard to defend against. Yes, Dubravka may have reached it if he was on his line but it is so hard as a goalkeeper to always be in the right place at the right time. Sometimes you get caught out and that is what happened at Turf Moor on Monday. Dubravka still made some other good saves and you can hardly say he has gone down in estimations because of one goal.

Dubravka’s worst game for us so far. Flappy and bad positioning. Just a blip as he’s been quality normally.

Woof. Dubravka has regressed a bit this year hasn’t he?
