Livingston centre-forward Dolly Menga is set to miss his side’s clash against Rangers at Ibrox in the first Scottish Premiership game after the international break, according to STV.

The broadcaster claims that Livi will accept a two-match ban for Menga, 25, after he was charged with violent conduct for headbutting Celtic’s Ryan Christie in the 0-0 draw at Almondvale on Sunday.

It is understood that Menga will miss the game against Rangers on November 24, as well as the meeting with Motherwell the following week.

OPINION

Although Menga is hardly prolific in front of goal, the forward’s suspension is going to be a big boost for Rangers going into their clash against Livingston because not only did he cause havoc against Celtic, he also scored against the Gers in September. Menga joined Livi in the summer and has scored just one goal for them in nine league appearances. His goal was crucial because it earned the Lions a 1-0 win versus the Light Blues at the Tony Macaroni Arena. Menga is not a goal scorer but he is an absolute pain to deal with for a defender. Rangers’ defence has been poor of late so Connor Goldson and Joe Worrall will be pleased to know that they won’t be getting on the end of any of Menga’s elbows or anything after the international break is done with. He definitely deserves this ban though as what he did to Christie would have seen him sent off if the referee had spotted it.
