Paul McGrath has been drooling over Aston Villa attacker Jack Grealish after he scored his first goal of the season in the 2-0 win against Bolton at Villa Park on Friday night.

Dean Smith earned his second win as Villa boss with Grealish and James Chester both getting themselves on the scoresheet against the Trotters.

Legendary Villa defender McGrath was clearly impressed by Grealish’s performance having taken to his personal Twitter account during the game to wax lyrical about the former England Under-21 international.

“Young Jack Grealish!!!!!! Class. UTV,” he said.

OPINION

Grealish got his first goal of the season and just his second assist since the opening day of the season in the win over Bolton. He was clearly man of the match and flourished playing in behind Tammy Abraham, but seriously, a player of his supposed quality and his position should be doing this a lot more often than he does. It was Grealish’s best performance of the season by a distance but he does not do this anywhere near as often as he should. Tottenham were reportedly linked with signing him in the summer and sorry to say this Villa fans, but they dodged a bullet because there is no way that he would get into their first team. It’s also a good job for him because he can carry on at Villa Park being over-rated because he wears his socks low and owns shin-pads that would fit on a five-year-old. Get ready for him to slip back into obscurity over the next few weeks until he plays well against someone like Reading or Hull.
