Sky Sports News presenter Jim White has shared a worrying image of Albert Adomah after the Aston Villa winger suffered an injury in the 4-2 win against Birmingham on Sunday.

Adomah, 30, turned in his best performance in a long while as the Villains secured all three points in the Second City, but he was forced off with an injury in the 65th minute.

Via his personal Twitter account, White has wished a speedy recovery for the Ghana international, but also added an image of him on crutches while also wearing a protective boot around his left foot.

“Met up with the hugely-likeable Aston Villa midfielder Albert Adomah post-match today. Took a second-half knock and replaced. Hopefully back soon,” the Sky Sports journalist said on Sunday evening.

OPINION

Adomah has been a mainstay for Aston Villa this season, appearing regularly under the charges of both Steve Bruce and Dean Smith. Like most players at Villa Park, the winger’s form improved under Smith and he had a game to remember in the derby day win over Blues on Sunday. Adomah has been criticised a lot this year but you could not say a bad word about him at the weekend as he played a key role in the win over Birmingham. After that game, it will be a massive blow for Villa if Adomah is ruled out of action for a certain amount of time. Judging by that picture it could be a pretty bad injury, but all precautions are taken with players these days – it’s a surprise he wasn’t literally wrapped in cotton wool. Adomah was all smiles though and White clearly met a man who was in high spirits despite injury. More will be known soon so let’s pray that it is nothing serious for the ex-Middlesbrough ace.
