Arsenal put in a fantastic performance tonight to secure a share of the spoils in a scintillating game against Liverpool at the Emirates tonight.

And BT Sport pundit and former Man United legend Rio Ferdinand was hugely impressed with two Arsenal players, Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

James Milner threatened to plunder the points for Liverpool with his goal in the 61st minute after a mistake from keeper Bernd leno.

However, Lacazette lived up to his praise from Ferdinand with a beautiful finish deep into the second-half.

Talking on the live coverage of the game, Ferdinand heaped praise on the two Arsenal frontmen.

“Yeah, there were issues at the back but I want to talk about what Arsenal have done well,” Ferdinand said.

“They’ve been on the front foot, they’ve been pressing well and their chances have been borne out of pressing.

“Aubameyang and Lacazette have been absolutely fantastic, really giving Liverpool a threat and something to think about.”

OPINION

Ferdinand is bang on. Aubameyang and Lacazette have been brilliant all season and Unai Emery’s biggest problem is working out how to accommodate both of them in his side. He managed it tonight but unfortunately most of the big chances in the first-half fell to other Arsenal players. Liverpool didn’t deserve the three points tonight and it looked like Arsenal were going to be unlucky again against a top-table team, after dominating against Chelsea earlier in the season but losing. Lacazette got the deserved equaliser though and on this evidence Emery’s Arsenal aren’t a million miles away from the teams at the top. They can certainly match the teams above them in attack. If Emery can sort out his defence, which is where Arsenal really fall away, he could get his side back on course for another Premier League title. That’s going to be a step too far this season but a shot at the top four is a realistic ambition for the Gunners.
