Arsenal put on a really good display against Premier League front-runners Liverpool and took a share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw, but fans were not happy with their attacking midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
With Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang really causing Liverpool a threat, some of the best chances fell to Mkhitaryan in the first-half and he couldn’t capitalise.
And Arsenal paid the price after a mistake from goalie Bernd Leno was pounced on by James Milner in the 61st minute.
He drilled a fierce shot past Leno into the net and Liverpool fans were dreaming of going three points clear at the top.
However, Lacazette scored a fantastic goal in the 80th minute to give Arsenal a deserved point.
COMMENTARY
The 29-year-old Armenian international has never really rediscovered his best form at either Man United, who paid £38million for him from Borussia Dortmund, or at Arsenal. He’s not been a regular starter for Unai Emery this season but made the starting XI for the visit of Liverpool. However, it was a frustrating night for the attacker who always promises a lot but has been struggling to deliver. As one fan pointed out, Arsenal pay him almost £200k-a-week (£180k-a-week – source) and they want better value for their money. Arsenal would have considered themselves unlucky if they hadn’t got anything from this game. They had more than their fair share of chances and the Liverpool goal, when it arrived, came out of nowhere and a rare mistake from Leno. Mkhitaryan was hooked shortly after the goal and replaced by the in-form Alex Iwobi, and he inspired his side to an equaliser with the assist for Lacazette. Many fans think Iwobi should have started and on this evidence, he could well move back above Mkhitaryan in Unai Emery’s eyes. One fan said he had no future at Arsenal, which might be harsh, but sums up the views of the fans tonight.
Here are the best reactions from Arsenal fans to his performance at the Emirates on Saturday night:
Mkhitaryan doesn't have a future at Arsenal. Will probably be replaced my Reiss Nelson or Iwobi .

If Mkhitaryan was 17 he’d be getting released https://t.co/rk6FEznXvR

Mkhitaryan stinking up the carpet yet again while Iwobi sits on the bench & Nelson bangs goals at Hoffenheim.
