Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has predicted that Nottingham Forest will be subjected to a defeat at the hands of Sheffield United on Saturday.

Forest welcome the Blades to the City Ground this weekend in the Championship and has forseen a 2-1 loss for Aitor Karanka’s players due to United’s fantastic start to the season.

He added how the Reds must be gutted not to progress to the next round of the Carabao Cup after being defeated by Burton Albion in the week – and said that the fans will be disappointed that they have crashed out of a competition early yet again.

“Nottingham Forest missed a real opportunity to reach the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup after being beaten by Burton in midweek, and that would have really disappointed a fanbase who have not seen their side reach the latter stages of a cup competition in a very long time,” he told Sky Sports.

“Sheffield United have been fantastic so far this season and deserve to be top of the table. I fancy them to get another win at the City Ground.”

OPINION

It is not surprising that Prutton has predicted a loss for Forest here – they have been in mixed form this season, and it would be a shock if they were able to pull off a positive result against the current league leaders. Sheffield United are far too strong at the moment, so it is hard not to agree with Prutton and his prediction here – but the question remains as to how many they will win by. Forest will be down on confidence after crashing out of the Carabao Cup so early on, and this may have an effect on their mentality and attitude towards the game. However, it may make them even more determined to get a good result in front of their fans on Saturday. The supporters are no doubt disappointed about yet another year of lacklustre form, and Forest need to give them something to smile about. They could face a more difficult opponent than United, and they will have a bit of a mountain to climb to get something here.
