A number of Leeds United supporters have been left in bits on social media after the club’s official Twitter account savaged former player Steve Morison.

The Whites’ social media account retweeted a post from former UKIP leader Nigel Farage insisting that the Brexit agreement was the worst deal in history, correcting the politician by stating that the swap deal involving Morison and Luciano Becchio was in fact the worst.

The tongue-in-cheek response had Leeds fans in stitches on Twitter, where they expressed their delight over the cheeky response.

COMMENTARY

Yikes. Leeds have not held back in their attack on Morison, and while it might not be on the same scale as the negotiations with the European Union, his move to Elland Road was certainly ill-fated. Five goals in 42 appearances for the club was an atrocious record, and the move is made especially worse seeing as it involved the departure of cult hero Becchio with his 219 appearances and 86 goals for the Whites. Aside from the deal, the humorous response from the Leeds account is a refreshing sight after the last 12 months and you cannot imagine that they would have been making jokes when they were struggling last season. It seems everyone, including the fans, are feeling pretty relaxed at Elland Road and after all the turmoil that they have gone through, they deserve it more than most. Still, where does Morison line up alongside the likes of last season’s flops Jay-Roy Grot and Caleb Ekuban? The Whites certainly have some competition for worst deal.
