Notts County have been linked with a move for the former Leeds manager Paul Heckingbottom, and some Leeds fans have piled onto Twitter to warn Notts County off. Heckingbottom didn’t have a good record after joining Leeds from Barnsley. He only managed for 16 games and only won four of those, drawing four and losing eight. That was enough to see him become the second Leeds manager to be sacked in the 2017/18 season, after Thomas Christiansen took the first bullet.
Now it looks like Heckingbottom could be in line for a return to league football, albeit two divisions down from the Championship where he was a success with Barnsley (getting them promoted from League 1 to the Championship) and a flop at Elland Road. As you might expect it’s split the fans down the middle. One Leeds fan just said “God help you” when he heard the news but the majority of Notts County fans think he would be a real coup for the League 2 side.
