There were a number of summer signings which would have had the Leeds United faithful looking forward to the new campaign, but perhaps none more so than striker Patrick Bamford.

A new centre forward signing always attracts a lot of interest from supporters and with 100 Champions appearances and 36 second tier goals, he looked to be the sort of signing who would be able to fire the Whites to success.

However, the ambitious capture has not paid off due to a severe injury blow suffered by the former Middlesbrough man, limiting him to just five league appearances – not one in the starting XI – and keeping him out until 2019.

He might well have become a forgotten man in certain corners of Elland Road, Kemar Roofe leading the line in his absence, but it is time for supporters to start getting excited about his return as he delivers a great update from the training ground on his recovery process.

Speaking to LUTV about his time on the sidelines, the 25-year-old revealed there had been no complications which might push back his four month return date, and stated that his teammates have been helping him through the struggle – Lewis Baker even joining him for his training sessions away from the first team.

He has confirmed he has been “pushing it” when it comes to working on the injury itself and that it has been the little things – like being able to walk properly, and then run – which received a celebration from Jamal Blackman – which have made the big difference.

Most importantly though is that Bamford seems to be all smiles and that positive attitude shows things are going well for the hitman, and after waiting to see their potential star striker back in action the supporters should be feeling just as positive now.
