Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa will be forced to name one of two junior keepers, Will Huffer or Kamil Miazek, on the bench for Saturday’s game against Bristol City, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

This comes after regular back-up keeper Jamal Blackman suffered a season-ending injury with a broken leg that signalled the end of his loan spell from Chelsea.

Neither of the young keepers have made a senior appearance for Leeds before but could be thrown into the deep end if anything were to happen to Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

OPINION
The injury to Blackman was tragic for club and player. Blackman didn’t get much of a chance under Marcelo Bielsa, but after a string of mistakes from Peacock-Farrell, it looked like an opportunity could be just round the corner. Blackman was ready but we’ll never know the impact he could have made for Leeds now. The only bright side from the shattering injury is that the January window isn’t far away. Getting a new goalkeeper will be a priority for Leeds now but in the meantime they’ll have to hope that nothing happens to Peacock-Farrell. Huffer has no senior experience and Miazek just a smattering from Poland. Leeds can’t bring in emergency cover unless Peacock-Farrell is injured or suspended – a frightening thought at the moment. There are some great keepers out there who Leeds could target and one that’s been mentioned is Tom Heaton from Burnley. He’d be an upgrade on what Leeds have and could easily see Peacock-Farrell demoted to back-up if he comes in.
