Hastings United manager Chris Agutter has said that he expects midfielder Adam Lovatt to become a Leeds United player.

The 19-year-old is heading to Elland Road for a trial on Monday

Talking in the Bexhill Observer, Agutter said, “He’s already made a good impression because they’re interested in him and he’s got a lot of clubs in for him.

“He needs to go up there, continue to work hard, enjoy it and be himself – because it’s him that’s got himself in that great position. “He’s ice cold, he’s not emotional at all. He won’t be flustered by it, he’ll go about his business and hopefully he’s successful.”

“I wouldn’t be surprised if he does very well and becomes a Leeds United player. He’s done incredibly well and this is just the start for him to be honest.”

OPINION

Leeds fans wanted new signings in the summer. And, for the most part, new manager Marcelo Bielsa resisted. The fans who said that last season’s squad couldn’t change have been proved wrong, so far, and we’re expecting more of the same in January. Leeds probably will sign a goalkeeper but that might be it in January, with Bielsa adamant that the return of players like Izzy Brown, Patrick Bamford and Luke Ayling, all with long-term injuries, will be like new signings. That means that all the focus of Leeds incomings will be on the stars of the future, with the strong link between the first-team and the Under-23s set to reap dividends for the club. Lovatt has been described as ice-cold by his manager and there are lots of clubs interested in the 19-year-old. Leeds would seem to be in the driving seat and Hastings’ loss will be Leeds’ gain. We should find out more next week with the player set for a five-day trail at Leeds, starting on Monday.
