Andy Walker has predicted that Rangers will win 1-0 in their Scottish Premiership clash against Hearts at Tynecastle on Sunday.

Steven Gerrard’s side will go top of the table if they earn three points this weekend as Celtic take a weekend off from league action to compete in the BetFred Cup final.

And ex-Hoops striker Walker has tipped the Gers to just do that via his predictions on the Sky Sports website, in which he also claims that winger Daniel Candeias will be the key player for the Light Blues this weekend.

“Vital breakthrough goals recently against St Mirren and Livingston,” said Walker in a brief bit of praise for the Portuguese ace.

OPINION

Hearts may have started the season well but Craig Levein has found his side in a rut lately while Rangers seem to be going from strength to strength. The Gers have failed to win in two of their last trips to Tynecastle, but you have to be backing Gerrard’s men to be getting a result this weekend. Yes, they will go into the game off the back of playing on Thursday night in the Europa League, but that performance and result will surely serve more as motivation than anything else because it was a fantastic 0-0 draw against Villarreal. Hearts will be much easier to play against but it’s important that Gerrard keeps his mean grounded and makes sure that they know that they will have to work hard for a win. It might not be the 1-0 win that Walker is predicting as you would still have to back both teams to score. We are going with a 3-1 win to Rangers, and that will put them above Celtic and top of the table.
