Danny Rose is set to stay at Tottenham after forcing his way back into the plans of Mauricio Pochettino, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claim the England international, 28, is not one of those Spurs players heading for the exit door as part of a fire sale of senior talent in the January window.

The Sun report Mousa Dembele tops the list of stars Tottenham plan to offload, Pochettino will listen to offers for Victor Wanyama and Georges-Kevin Nkoudou and he wants to axe flop striker Vincent Janssen.

OPINION

Spurs fans will mostly be pleased that Rose is back in favour under Pochettino. The left-back was re-asserting himself as the first choice left-back following a hugely difficult 18 months personally and professionally until his recent groin injury that has kept him out of the last two matches. Ben Davies is regarded by supporters as a solid performer who is defensively more reliable than Rose. But the England man is far more dynamic and adds a new dimension on the overlap to the team’s attacking play. It is no coincidence that Spurs look more effective going forward when Rose is romping up and down the flank. His future has been in doubt for some time now, so it will be gratifying that Pochettino has been won over by the player’s attitude and performance. As for the four heading for the exit door, Dembele will be much missed although the time seems right, Wanyama has struggled with knee problems and 2016 signings NKoudou and Janssen have been wretched almost from day one.
