A section of Tottenham fans have been reacting on Twitter after it was reported that the club has registered a “serious interest” in Ajax centre-back Matthijs de Ligt.
The Express has claimed that Spurs are keeping close tabs on the £48million-rated Netherlands international, and some fans are loving the idea of potentially signing him in the future.

De Ligt has been linked with Tottenham for quite some time but the North London club really needs to think about going in for him in January or next summer because there is a good chance that Toby Alderweireld will need replacing. These Spurs fans clearly want the 19-year-old Dutch international to join them and given the fact he has so much experience despite his age, you can see why. De Ligt is not even 20 yet has 76 senior appearances to his name across all competitions and wears the captain’s armband for Ajax. He also has nine international caps to his name and his ball-playing abilities would mean that he would perfect suit the Spurs defence. In all but one Eredivise game that de Ligt has played in this season, Ajax have kept clean sheets. In the one game he missed, they lost 3-0 to PSV. He is a quality player and Mauricio Pochettino must get him in.
