Adam Lallana will be available for Liverpool’s next match against Huddersfield Town as he looks to get his career back on track, according to Paul Joyce.

The Times correspondent claims the injured midfielder, is in line to make his return from a groin injury that he sustained while on England duty last month.

Joyce explains that Lallana has been training for the past three weeks and opted to rule himself out of Liverpool’s last two matches, against Manchester City and Napoli, to focus on completing extra sessions and getting in shape to make his return at the end of next week.

With six Liverpool fixtures scheduled in the three weeks between 20 October and the international break starting on 11 November, Jurgen Klopp will be delighted to have a player of Lallana’s class and experience available again. The 30-year-old has had a wretched year wrecked by injuries and in which he has seen Liverpool fork out a combined £100million on two new midfielders Naby Keita and Fabinho. Neither are direct replacements for Lallana, a player with the touch, imagination and creativity to thrive in tight spaces and congested areas of the pitch. Some have written off the ex-Southampton ace, but he could still have a big role to play at Anfield, especially as the recent matches against City, Napoli and Chelsea highlighted the team’s need for a playmaker. Philippe Coutinho once filled that role brilliantly, and there is no reason with Lallana cannot be Coutinho-lite for the remainder of this season. His fitness could be a gamechanger in Liverpool’s title bid.
