Lee Congerton must use all the resources at Celtic’s disposal to blow Rangers away and win the race to sign Dundee ace Glen Kamara in the January window.

The 22-year-old midfielder is attracting interest from north and south of the board, and even across Europe and in the United States, following his impressive displays for the Scottish minnows and the Finland national team.

The Daily Mail claim Celtic and Rangers have watched Kamara closely in recent months and there is also interest from Derby County and Premier League duo Wolves and Burnley.

It is said there have also been enquiries from clubs in the MLS and eastern Europe and, with Kamara’s contract due to expire next summer, Dundee may look to cash in on their prize asset in January.

Kamara would be an excellent addition for Celtic, whose first choice central midfield pairing is veteran Scott Brown and Olivier Ntcham, who has been strongly linked with a big-money move.

Celtic head of recruitment Congerton has been widely criticised, along with chief executive Peter Lawwell, for the club’s transfer market forays in the last 12 months.

Supporters claim many of the signings, both permanent and on loan, have failed to live up to their billing and are demanding greater ambition.

Kamara would provide that at a swoop. The former Arsenal player, who began his career at Southend United and has also had a spell on loan at Colchester United, has been transformed since joining Dundee.

Congerton would similarly enhance his reputation if Celtic can will the all-Glasgow battle to sign him.
