A number of Rangers supporters have been reacting with anger to defender Connor Goldson’s performance in the team’s 4-1 win over Hamilton on Saturday.
Steven Gerrard’s side claimed victory at the Hope CBD Stadium courtesy of Ryan Kent’s first half strike, a brace of James Tavernier penalties and a late goal from Alfredo Morelos, with Steven Boyd scoring a stunning strike for the hosts.
Despite the victory, the 6ft 3in Goldson [Source: Transfermarkt] was one of the chief offenders in a lacklustre display from Gers as he struggled with his distribution out from the back throughout, and the Rangers fans weren’t shy about giving him a piece of their mind.

Big Goldson should be told to pass the ball no more than 10 yards he gives it away far to often.

Goldson and Katic’s passing has been horrendous aswell, either astray or too light

Goldson and Katic passing has been awful this game. Must have swapped boots or something

Stupid confidence ruining sub when we need a midfield change. Goldson has been as poor as katic. Gerard’s subs, timing and lack of, becoming his biggest issue.

OPINION
It wasn’t the best performance from Goldson against Hamilton, particularly in the first half. The centre half simply didn’t look his assured self from the word go, and his distribution out from the back was below par to say the very least. The 25-year-old hasn’t looked the same since the Old Firm derby defeat to Celtic last month and this game was the latest continuation in his loss of form. It wasn’t a great game of football and nobody particularly shined for Gers, so the blame cannot be solely placed on the former Brighton & Hove Albion man, but he wasn’t good enough bringing the ball out from the back. Rangers are a big team who will consistently have to bring the game to opposition. To do that they need quality centre halves who are good on the ball. Goldson hasn’t looked like he fits that description lately, and you can perfectly understand the Rangers fans’ frustration with him.
