Max Hofmann ruled out of Rangers v Rapid Vienna clash

|

Max Hofmann has been ruled out the the Europa League clash against Rangers on Thursday in a massive blow to the Austrian outfit, according to the Scottish Sun.

The report claims that the 25-year-old will be out for two months after scan results revealed that he had torn knee ligaments.

The Sun claims that this will really stretch the Austrian side.

OPINION

Rapid Vienna notched up a huge win against Spartak Moscow in their first game in the Europa League and will be looking for another result at Ibrox on Thursday. This will hurt them though. Steven Gerrard, by contrast, has a slightly different problem to deal with. He doesn’t have any major injury issues and will have Alfredo Morelos back after suspension in the Villarreal game. However, a strong XI played terribly against Livingston on Sunday and he’ll have to debate whether he needs to switch his side up. We think that one almost certain change is Kyle Lafferty dropping to the bench. The experiment of playing with two up front on Sunday didn’t work and we think Morelos will get to lead the line on his own in a game that Rangers really need to win to stand a good chance of progression in the competition.
