Chris Sutton has picked out Tom Rogic and James Forrest as the keys for Celtic in their Betfred Cup semi-final against Hearts on Sunday.

The Hoops are coming in on the back of another disappointing night in Europe as they fell to a 2-0 loss to RB Leipzig in Germany to put them in a precarious position in Group B, with just three points from three games.

Attention turns back to domestic football and a semi-final clash against league leaders Hearts on Sunday, and Sutton has now drooled over the influence of Rogic and Forrest and named them as the key to a Hoops win.

In a column for the Daily Record, he said: “Celtic have real class going forward in the shape of Rogic and Forrest. The two of them have run riot in the past couple of league matches against St Johnstone and Hibs and contributed to almost all of the 10 goals scored.

“Both will be fresh having missed Leipzig and, if those two turn up on song, Celtic will have enough.”

OPINION

Sutton is right to highlight this duo as key for Celtic, with both players being in stunning form of late. Rogic has been running the show for the Hoops on a regular basis in recent weeks, with the Australia international looking back to his absolute best. His telepathic relationship with Forrest has been particularly fruitful, with the duo linking up so well going forward, as evidenced when Forrest netted four against St. Johnstone. Forrest is slowly becoming one of the most important players in this Celtic side after maturing so much over the past couple of years, and his form this season is really reflecting that. Rogic’s fitness is a slight concern for their clash against Hearts on Sunday however, with the Australian missing out against Leipzig with a minor knee injury. Whether Brendan Rodgers wants to risk him is yet to be seen, and if he is missing it would be a big blow for the Hoops who would be missing a key creative outlet.
