Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has insisted that there is no exit clause in loanee winger Daniel Arzani’s contract.

The 19-year-old is yet to feature for the Hoops’ first team this season, but Rodgers has rejected claims that Manchester City – whom Arzani is on loan from – want to take the flyer back due to the zero appearances he has made for Celtic.

Arzani joined Celtic on a two year loan earlier in the summer, and Rodgers has commented on how the 5ft 9in [Transfermarkt] youngster has “adapted very well” since joining.

“There is nothing. His situation is very simple. He is a 19-year-old boy who has come in for two years to get experience. He has burst onto the scene and of course they will want him to do well, but there is no exit clause,” he said, as quoted by the Daily Record.

“He has adapted very well and much as people would love him to come in and play he wasn’t ready. so it’s all a process.”

OPINION

It would come as no surprise if Manchester City wanted to recall Arzani back from his loan due to his lack of appearances – but then again, he would most likely face a similiar fate there. Arzani is yet to make any appearances for the senior side, but this will no doubt come with time – after all, Celtic would not sign a young player and not give him any experience whatsover. He will have to patient in order to be handed a start, but it is likely that will not happen for a while yet. Rodgers seems pretty settled on his first team line-ups, so Arzani would have to produce some sort of miracle to force his way into his plans. That is not to say that the Australia international is not talented – it may just take a while to adjust to a different league. However, Rodgers has pointed out that there is no exit clause in Arzani’s contract – so he will not be going back to City any time soon.
