Celtic fans loved Patrick Roberts after he arrived on two loan spells from Man City.
They were hoping to get him back over the summer for a third spell at the club but that didn’t happen, with City deciding to loan him out to Gerona.
However, as one Celtic fan pointed out, he hasn’t started a match there and has only made a total of 67 minutes on the pitch from five cameo appearances.
He hasn’t scored and he hasn’t registered an assist. The fan asked how that was better for his career than coming back to Celtic and Chris Sutton retweeted him to start a very healthy debate off.

I expected him to be a huge success wherever he went. I'd love to think Brendan could take him for a relatively low price in January. His limited appearances in Spain might make that appealing for all concerned. The signing of Paddy would give the support and team a huge lift.

Think it’s good news for us. He’s a class act and going by all accounts loved life at Celtic

OPINION
Patrick Roberts had a brilliant first stint at Celtic but it didn’t work out for him last season. To be fair he spent a lot of time out with injury and couldn’t re-discover his form when he was back. He’s a hugely talented player and it seems like the wheels are coming off his career over at Girona. Would Celtic welcome him back in January? It’s possible but we can’t see any way that he would be recalled and then loaned back out to Brendan Rodgers in January. Not all Celtic fans want him back either. Some say that it was his decision to move to Girona and that the club needs to forget him and move on. However, others called for Celtic to act and “bring him home” and one supporter said that he could see Rodgers signing him on a permanent deal in January, with the player out of sorts and only under contract for another 18 months. Rodgers needs to make some new recruits in January, but we can’t see Roberts being one of them.
