Wolverhampton Wanderers have enjoyed a bright start back in the Premier League with not only some impressive results but some quality performances which have left the Molineux faithful out of their seats.

Out of the three newly promoted sides, there are few that the neutral would rather watch, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side bringing a culmination of resolute defending and an electric forward line to stop and sink their opposition.

However, one area which the manager cannot be wholly satisfied with is his strikers, with the likes of Raul Jimenez and Leo Bonatini struggling to put away goals on a consistent basis, as they instead pass up a handful of opportunities which could see a game put to bed.

That has to change sooner rather than later if they are to continue being a successful side, and rather than signing a new striker in the January market, they may as well use one that simply fell down the pecking order; Rafa Mir.

The 21-year-old striker was shipped out to Las Palmas in the summer on a season-long loan deal as Nuno realised game time would be difficult to come by, and the £1.5million hitman found his shooting boots, albeit for his country rather than his club.

With two goals in five starts – predominantly as a winger – the 6’3″ (source: Transfermarkt) colossus is not dazzling in the second tier of Spanish football, but he his hogging the limelight on the international stage, demonstrating some red hot form with three strikes in two appearances for the Spain under-21 side.

If he can continue that sort of form, then Mir deserves the chance to shine at Molineux, and as a giant figure up top, he could be the perfect figure to put away the chances created by the lightning fast attack.

He might be away from the club right now, but tearing up his loan deal in January and bringing him back can bring a spark to a selection of currently toothless centre forwards, and if he were given the chance, he can have Molineux erupting week in, week out.
